FAQ

How do I get started?
Let’s start the process with a free consultation. We’ll get to know each other, and I’ll answer any questions you have. Call, text, email, or fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
Do you use Zoom?
No. After you make an appointment, I will send you a link to my secure and confidential client portal. This portal contains all the necessary forms, statements, and information, and it is also the platform we’ll use for our sessions.
Do you take insurance?

I am considered an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a Superbill you may use to file for reimbursement with your insurance company. Check with your insurance company to see if you have out-of-network benefits.

It may be helpful for you to know that insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, which can become part of your medical record. This information may impact various things, such as future medical insurance options. Also, insurance companies often limit who you can see, the number of sessions, and the types of therapy they cover.

How do I pay?
I accept HSA cards, debit, and credit cards.
Who are your clients?
I work with motivated adults in Arizona and Virginia. While I would like to support everyone who reaches out to me, some mental health needs are addressed better by services I do not provide. Our consultation will be an excellent opportunity to ensure that we are a good match for each other.
How long will I be in therapy?
For as long as you feel it is helpful to you. Many individuals reach their goals in about 12 sessions. Others progress toward their goals over several months or years. Some achieve their goals, end therapy, and jump back in when they need a ‘tune-up.’ You can enjoy therapy for as long as you are actively engaged in the process and are gaining what you need.
What is ART?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses back-and-forth eye movements to address things like depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and PTSD. Unlike traditional therapy, ART does not require a person to talk in-depth about their problems. Eye movements allow the brain to connect with a person’s strengths and problem-solving abilities, producing quick, effective results.
What if I say something shocking to you?
I’ve been a therapist for almost 20 years and have heard some pretty shocking things. My responses to whatever you tell me will be nonjudgmental, supportive, and compassionate. And if there’s reason for us to laugh at the outrageous, we will do so!
What are you passionate about?
I firmly believe that each of us should be able to live our best possible life. I love clearing the weeds, digging out the decay, nurturing growth, and offering new tools. Empowerment is my passion (and did you pick up on the gardening references?).
Pizza or tacos?
Tacos on Tuesday, pizza on Friday, and ice cream any day of the week!
